I realized today as I took time to read some poetry by Rumi and to journal some just how much I’ve let my interior life slack.
For a good part of my life I had very good discipline with taking time to know myself, my motives, my feelings, and to focus on connecting with God. Unfortunately I’ve been neglecting that discipline for a while now and it’s showing in the rest of my life.
Hopefully my time this morning will be the jumpstart I needed to get that part of life back on track.
Need to rediscover my interior life
I’m still alive 3
I know that I’ve lost all readership but I am still alive, in case you were wondering. I’m also still skinny(have been maintaining about 190 through the winter) as that was a topic of interest on here.
My life is fairly boring these days though so that explains the lack of updates. Just working away, playing soccer(Indoor at SCOR now after a fall CVSA league), and trying to enjoy life some. You can always see smaller details on twitter (@danielfarrell) if you want to know what I’m up to.
Losing weight this summer 2
I’ve been dropping some pound this summer. It’s been good to be more active again and also to get back down to a healthy weight. I took a photo of myself in Photobooth yesterday and I saw that I had taken one just before summer soccer. The difference is noticable. Here is before:

And here is after:

I still plan on dropping some more pounds and hopefully putting on a few pounds of muscle as well. I’ll post progress as that happens.
Summer soccer is done but soccer continues!
Our summer co-ed team(Random Heroes) was eliminated tonight in the semi-finals by a heartbreaking late goal. That brings an end to the summer soccer season for me. It was a great experience to get myself back into playing soccer and back into shape in general. I feel like I improved a ton during the season and look forward to continuing to improve as I’ll be playing on a fall team as well.
*Sidebar – if you are a guy soccer player in Richmond and don’t have a fall team yet let me know because our team could use a few more players*
I’m also interested in playing some street soccer if I can find some other people who are interested. I think it would help improve my ball skills and it just looks like a ton of fun! Hit me up if you want to kick it around downtown sometime!
Been busy over here
I haven’t blogged in a while… haven’t really felt like taking the time to write something out that is longer than 140 characters. Might as well catch you all up on what has been happening this summer. The highlights of this summer have been the following:
I have been playing in a CVSA soccer league. It is a coed rec league but is much more competitive than I thought it would be. I’m definitely one of the worst players in the league but I’ve made good improvements. With that has come a renewed push to get in shape. I’ve been going up to the park a lot of mornings and getting in some soccer running(sprints and running, not just jogging). I’m down to about 220 pounds now with a short term goal of under 210.
We went up to Wisconsin on a mini-vacation. We got to see Nate and Anne and also explore Milwaukee, Lake Geneva and Madison some. It was great to see them and celebrate with them that Lebak 2.0 is on the way!
Our 7th anniversary is in a couple days. We are going up to Ashland to eat at Ashland Coffee & Tea and then to walk around and explore the town some. Should be a nice and chill celebration.
Besides that it’s just been mostly work and trying to hang with friends. Hope your summer has been nice!
