Taking a break

Posted by Daniel on July 30, 2003

Well, it has been a little while since I posted last. I’ve talked to a few people about the whole no-longer-pastor thing and gotten different responses. Alicia and I have decided to take a few week long break from all official Horizon activities to get our heads straight and see if we can find out what God has for us. One thing that really excites both of us is the whole house church/open church/simple church thing. We’ll see what God has in store.

This morning was weird

Posted by Daniel on July 20, 2003

Man, this morning felt weird. After a week of explaining to people why I am not a Pastor at Horizon, Towson anymore… which actually wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it would be. But this morning made up for it. It just felt so weird to be there and not have any significant role. There wasn’t anything bad… the band sounded really good, and Clay gave a good sermon on The Road to Perdition. It just felt so weird. If I figure out anything else besides that it felt weird, I’ll elaborate…

Things are changing

Wow, busy last 5 days… Things are changing around here. My role at Horizon Towson is changing. Call it a demotion, or being fired, or something like that. Either way, I’m not a Pastor there anymore. I’m something more like pastor-in-training or something like that now. I guess it’s good. I do feel like I was thrown in without knowing what I was doing. And I do feel like I wasn’t doing a very good job. Plus the whole no good funding options thing makes it look like things weren’t going to change. I really appreciate how the leadership handled the situation. There was lots of love and a intense desire to do what God wanted. We all have a lot to learn along the way, and this I’m sure will be one of those learning experiences. But, regardless of what my role is, we as a group are going to do all we can to reach Towson for Christ!

Movies instead of work

Posted by Daniel on July 10, 2003

Well… last night was interesting. I went to investigate a down server to get to ISG and find the server working properly. So Alicia and I went to see Bruce Almighty instead. Pretty good movie, but I think I would have liked it better if I hadn’t heard people say how great it was. There is some very good stuff in the movie. It really made me realize how much of my life has revolved around me lately and how that needs to change.

Besides that, God seems to be doing something with my family. Some strange stuff is going on. I’ll post more after it comes full circle.

Talking about money too much

Posted by Daniel on July 06, 2003

I was informed by a friend that I talk about money too much on here, and I completely agree. So, new rule for Dan’s blog… no talking about money.

My brother Jack has had a rough week. We’ve been to visit him just about every day.

Besides that I’ve just been doing sermon prep for today’s sermon on the Trinity. I’m feeling pretty good about it, we’ll see how it goes.
