Never petted a deer before 3

Posted by Daniel on February 28, 2004

I took a trip to Liberty Dam today. It is beautiful weather out and I thought it would be a good place to sit and read… you know, get some solitude. Well, there were a lot of people there so I didn’t get much solitude. But there was this baby deer down by the Dam that was super friendly. At first I didn’t know what to think when this deer followed me all around and wouldn’t leave me alone. But then I petted him and other people came around. So yeah, I petted a deer today… and I got deer slobber on my jeans. How often can you say that, right?

My very own pitty party

Responding to the desperate plea of my beautiful wife, Clay, Allison, Jeff, Michelle, Shannon and a few others threw me my very own pitty party last night. Pizza, cookies and some good conversation at the Carvers. Thanks guys!

In other news… it’s a beautiful day and I am going to go someplace outside and read now. My cell will be with me if other people want to give me pitty invites to go someplace.

Missed Ash Wednesday stuff

Celebrating traditional holidays has not worked too well for us this year. First we didn’t get things together for Epiphany. Now Ash Wednesday glided right by. I wanted to go to a mass and get ashes, but work kept me busy all day. Then I was gonna go with Scott to a Lutheran service but I got home late from work and was feeling sick. Maybe next year…

I need a vacation

Man, with my boss gone this weekend work has been rough. We have had a major emergency every day and all the other things I was supposed to have gotten done by now are still lingering. And I think I’m getting sick… I’m running a little fever and not feeling great. Could use a prayer or 2 if you guys get a moment.

Weekends are too short! 1

Well, at least it was a pretty good one. Friday night we went over to Dj, Josh and Ben’s place to hang out for a bit. It was cool to see them and a few other people who were there. I found out that Christina reads this. Hi Christina!

Saturday I slept into 11. It has been a LONG time since I’ve done that. We then went to the Ashes Remain show that night. They rocked, but the set was too short.

Sunday at church we got the privilege of hearing from Ben Ogden about the Contemplative life. He rocked the house! Ben, if you read this, you are the man!

On a more spiritual note, this past week has been rough. I’ve felt more attacked than I can ever remember. I didn’t realize why until Saturday afternoon. And when I realized why it got a lot better right away. I’m not going to pretend like I understand how this stuff works, but I do think I learned a little something about spiritual warfare.
