I’ve been reading N.T. Wright’s What Saint Paul Really Said, and I’m almost done. I have to tell you, between it and The Challenge of Jesus it has really expanded my understanding of the gospel. The biggest shift I need to make is to really get it into my head that the gospel is about the Lordship of Jesus and not about the salvation of souls. Yes, those who follow Jesus as Lord will be resurrected and have an eternal future. But we have made a consequence of believing the gospel into the gospel itself. Humanism has infultrated our theology. We always make everything about us!! It’s not about us, it’s about God being King and Lord of the world through Jesus Christ!!
My Lord and my God, may your Kingdom come and your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven!!!!

With the democratic convention going on I’ve gotten much more into politics than is healthy for me. I’ve also gotten much to into the politics part of the Horizon message board. It makes me all concerned about things that are so far out of my control that it isn’t worth wasting the time on. So, I’m fasting from politics…

Saturday morning I went to the Horizon mini-golf tournament. I didn’t play mini-golf, but I competed in the hole-in-one and long drive competitions. Didn’t win either, but made a decent showing. Alicia was working all day, so after that I just came home and hung out. Saturday night we just hung out, went and got italian ice, and goofed off.
Yesterday morning we made a visit to Horizon Owings Mills. It had been a while. Alicia finished our collage in the afternoon. It looks really good. Last night we hung out over at Leslie’s with a bunch of Horizonites. It was quite the Horizon weekend.
And now… back to the grind…

Seeing that Vineyard Central had openings for their internship program has got me thinking more about missional communal living again. If anyone reading this is interested in doing something similar in Baltimore, please let me know. Or if you know someone who wants to give us a house in Baltimore, let me know about that as well. Alicia and I would love to do this.

Vineyard Central has openings in their internship program.
Rains blogged about it today and there is more info here and here. That sounds wonderful to me. Maybe after Alicia finishes school…
