I had an interesting day yesterday. Alicia had work seminars for most of the day, so I had my adventures without her this week. I went to the joint service between the Owings Mills and Towson Horizon churches. There were a lot of emotions for me there. I was part of the core team that started the Owings Mills church, and I was a pastor of the Towson church for a few months at the beginning before that didn’t work out. We haven’t been a part of the Horizon scene for about 7 months now. I’m happy for them that things seem to be going well… but man do I feel out of place there now. I have nothing against the leadership or anybody there, in fact I consider all of the staff to be among my good friends, I just dream different dreams than they do.
I also went to the baptism/cookout they had in the afternoon to see my good friend Scott get baptised. Congrats Scott!
Walking into our building after the baptism/cookout I run into our neighbour Matt. He was struggling with changing his license plate(got MD tags instead of NY tags) because they had attached the back one with plastic screws that broke when he tried to take then off. I spent some time trying to help him with that and after much struggling we finally were able to drill through them and get his new plates on. He was so happy that he took Alicia and I out to dinner at TGIFridays. We had good get-to-know-you kind of conversation and he even started the spiritual conversation. He was raised in family that always went to the local Catholic church every week… but decided in college that he didn’t really know why he was going, so he was gonna be honest with himself and just not go anymore. He seems very open to talk about religious stuff, and I don’t think we scared him too much by sharing our situation. I think they are going to buy us another dinner(for watering their plants) and they are gonna invite us over for their next poker night. I’m excited to get to know him and his girlfriend Sara more, they seem like pretty cool people.

Thanks Dan! I know yesterday must have been an emotional day for you but I’m so glad you were there when I got baptised. You and Alicia mean so much to me, your both great friends!
Interesting to read this. I can hear where your heart is at seeping through the words you write in this post. And I know exactly the feeling you were experiencing on Sunday. You are in my prayers brother Daniel. Peace.
