Missional thinking and streams 3

Posted by Daniel on October 26, 2004

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about missional purpose. For example, I think Horizon is very much a missional church. I just think they have a different mission than we do. I think this goes a little back to the streams of the christian faith. A missional community focused on the Evangelical stream will look different than one focused on another of the streams.

This is helpful to clarify in my mind what we want to be a part of. Now we need to try to figure out which stream we fit the best into and figure out what a missional community in that stream looks like. At this moment I’m thinking it is probably the Incarnational stream.

What would an incarnational missional community look like? Is that what Vineyard Central, The Landing Place, Vine and Branches and Ordinary Community are?

since i haven’t read Streams of Living water, can you share some about the Incarnational stream?

Or better yet, I’ll quote from the Renovare website:

The Incarnational stream, the sacramental life, focuses upon making present and visible the realm of the invisible spirit. This spiritual dimension addresses the crying need to experience God as truly manifest and notoriously active in daily life.

    That help any?

I like that statement from Renovare Daniel. I’d like to think that’s what God is making of us who are Vine & Branches. The philosophy, and subsequent ecclesiology of being - being who we are - doing what keeps us in the place of being made what we were created to be. Peace be with you on your new journey.
