I pledge allegiance… 3

Posted by Daniel on November 30, 2004

I have been a part of a discussion on the Horizon Message Board about christians marrying non-christians. A non-christian on the board was saying how stupid they thought it was to not marry someone just because they have different beliefs than you do. My reaction is that christianity, being a follower of Jesus, is not primarily about beliefs. First and foremost it is about allegiance. It is about having your primary allegiance in life be to Jesus as King and Master of the world, your community and your life.

I wonder if much confusion about christianity could be avoided if we could clearly articulate to the culture that we are about an allegiance to Jesus, not just about a certain list of beliefs.

Recent happenings

Been a few days since I posted last. We got back from Narrows safely. We had a good time hanging out with Alicia’s family and with Debbie. We both came back with colds. I think mine is mostly passed now, but Alicia’s is still hanging around. We went to Horizon Sunday morning. Then we did our Advent celebration with my parents Sunday afternoon. Yesterday was back to work, then to a viewing for Shirley’s grandfather, and then out to eat with friends afterwords.

In other news, I got to buy $200 worth of books with my birthday money and gift cards. Yay! Plenty of reading for quite a while. I just finished Treasure in Clay Jars, which is the followup to Missional Church. Good read. I’ll make a post about the whole missional church thing sometime.

Alright, got to get ready for work now…

2 years late, but wedding videos coming soon

Posted by Daniel on November 26, 2004

I’ve gotten everything working on my laptop to do video editing. I’ve been playing a bit with clips from our wedding video. You can expect to see a video/movies section of the website soon, with the first content being scenes from our wedding.

Edit: Some wedding movies are up now. Check them out from the movies link on the front page.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

We are down in Narrows, Virginia with Alicia’s family. The traffic wasn’t too bad last night and we got in around 8 after stopping for dinner and at Wal-Mart on the way. We went over to Fawn and Roger’s place and hung out with them for a little while. And now we are just getting up to start the day full of TONS of food and watching football. I can’t think of a better holiday!
