I have been a part of a discussion on the Horizon Message Board about christians marrying non-christians. A non-christian on the board was saying how stupid they thought it was to not marry someone just because they have different beliefs than you do. My reaction is that christianity, being a follower of Jesus, is not primarily about beliefs. First and foremost it is about allegiance. It is about having your primary allegiance in life be to Jesus as King and Master of the world, your community and your life.
I wonder if much confusion about christianity could be avoided if we could clearly articulate to the culture that we are about an allegiance to Jesus, not just about a certain list of beliefs.

Daniel, that’s huge. I have never thought of it in exactly the terms you put it, but the minute I read that it struck me as truth. Thanks.
Well, I’m glad someone liked it. No one responded on the message board and you are the only response here. I thought for sure that this would get a reaction from some people.
Yep, that’s it, pure and simple. Using that as my plumbline may change some things….gives me lots to think about.
