Tags in Wordpress

I’ve gotten a couple of emails of people asking how I have the tags setup in Wordpress. I don’t mind answering the emails at all, but I figured I would post it here so people can find it easier. I use two different plugins together to get the effect. First is the cat2tag plugin which converts the categories system to a tags system. Then I use the weighted categories plugin(with a little fix in it’s comments) to do the list. I’ve also heard good things about the Heat Map plugin for this. Then I do a few other tweaks to complete the effect. I changed the permalink Category base field to be /tags and changing the template to say Tagged as instead of Posted in. Hope that is helpful to someone.

Update: I switched to using the modified cat2tag instead of the normal one.

Wonderful restful weekend so far

Posted by Daniel on May 21, 2005

This weekend has been wonderful so far. We haven’t gone anywhere. I feel like I’m travelled out. Last night we got Red Robin carryout and had some New Castle left over and just stayed home and watched a lot of the 3rd season of Gilmore Girls. Today we slept in some, had breakfast, took a walk, napped together on the couch and just enjoyed the nice day. We are probably going to go out to dinner with some friends in a little bit, and I don’t think we have any plans for tomorrow. Just the weekend I needed!

Babies left and right. Jeff just called and said that little Gabe was born this morning at 9:30! They ended up having to do a C-section, but mother and baby and doing well. Congrats Jeff and Mindy! I can’t wait to get out there to meet the little guy! I’ll try to get some pictures up after Jeff sends them to me.

Fender bender 1

I was in a fender bender this morning leaving our apartment complex. A neighbour who I had not met before, Marian, backed out into me as I was leaving for work. She apologized and was nice about it. But even when there isn’t any bad blood accidents still suck. We both are fine, but the front bumper on the passenger side of my car is dented in pretty good. Her back bumper is scraped up. I’ve already called my insurance and started that process, I’m sure she has done the same. Gotta love Mondays.

Update: The test seems really slanted and isn’t worth your time… just FYI

The quiz is here.

You scored as Cultural Creative.

Cultural Creatives are probably the newest group to enter this realm. You are a modern thinker who tends to shy away from organized religion but still feels as if there is something greater than ourselves. You are very spiritual, even if you are not religious. Life has a meaning outside of the rational.

  • Cultural Creative 81%
  • Postmodernist 75%
  • Idealist 69%
  • Fundamentalist 50%
  • Romanticist 50%
  • Existentialist 38%
  • Modernist 25%
  • Materialist 13%
