This is my first post as a neighbourhood news reporter. The house 3 doors down from us, just across M street(700 N 31st St) burned down early this morning. Alicia was woken up by sirens. We went out there to find the place totally up in flames. The fire department did a good job of getting it under control, but the house is destroyed. This morning I went out to find guys in suits doing lots of talking and more news reporters. All the police are saying now is that they found a body. The fire marshall told me that they had not been into the main part of the house yet. Some neighbours say the body was found in the garage behind the house that was used to work on cars. That’s all I know so far. I’ll update this post as I find out more.

Update: After CSI took a lot of time in the garage they took a body out in a bag. I did an interview with channel 6 news, so look for me on the news.

Update 2(3PM): They just finished tearing the house down. I just talked to one of the owners of the house and a guy who is rehabing the house right behind us. The owner said he saw me on the news, so I guess they used the footage. The guy who is rehabing the house filled me in on what happened. The guy had been foreclosed on, was going through a messy divorce and was going to get evicted this morning. He set fire to the house and went into the garage and shot himself. Very sad.

Update 3(5PM): Yep, I sure was on the news. I was there for a couple second clip. Wasn’t used well in context, but oh well. I lived in Maryland for 14 years and never got on the news, but I’m in Richmond for less than a month and there I am. Crazy. Please pray for the Hill family.
