Church as art collective 3

Posted by Daniel on April 22, 2006

Andrew Perriman put up a great article on Open Source Theology about church as art collective. This is something that I had thought about not that long ago, taking inspiration from my friends at Patchwork Collective.

If/when we start a Jesus community in this area, it will take inspiration from this article. So give it a read if this kind of thing is up your alley.

Sounds cool and gives me a little bit of hope for Richmond and it’s creative/art scene.

so are there any art collectives that are trying to bring a higher conciousness of CHRIST into the scene, or is it all just self glorifying crap, so people can still be worldly and think of themselves as awesome (so as not to offend people with truth)

Hey Israel. There seemed to be two different understandings of “church as art collective” gotten from the article. They are very apparent in the comments on it. One is the christian art collective thing, which a few people are doing well(notably Church of the Apostles in Seattle). I was in the other group. I read it more from the collective understanding than the art understanding. A group of people working together as equals with a mission, using the art collectives as examples.
