I just finished reading Brian McLaren’s new book The Secret Message of Jesus. It brings together all of the stuff that a lot of us have been looking at for the past few years and makes it understandable. He draws a ton from N.T. Wright and Dallas Willard and a lot from Walter Wink, Walter Brueggemann and brings in some preterist understandings. Reading it made me feel like I have been reading the right stuff these past eight years or so. If you are interested in what I believe, this is as close as it gets. Added to that, Brian just has a lot of personality and is a very good writer which makes reading his stuff enjoyable. It comes highly recommended.
My copy has arrived “now” but is in a “not yet” reached my hand state

I don’t think we’ve ever discussed your beliefs before. I suppose I will have to read that book then. I remember you had it with you when you and ALF came down. We should have tons of time this week to discuss the book if you get to come with ALF. Im looking forward to it. Peace BIL

I listen to Brian a lot on line and I must say he is one of the more gracious speakers I have ever heard. His words are well seasoned. He is also a major contributer at sort of retelling the Story of God - “The Greatest Story Ever Told” - Providing a fantastic framework. For this, I am very greatful.
