Apparently this is a biking blog 5

Since I’ve written about nothing else since I got the bike… I promise it won’t be like this forever.

Ross called last night to invite me on their regular Tuesday/Thursday morning ride. I figured what the heck I’d give it a shot. Well, it’s about 5 miles to Ross’ house, then we went on a 10 mile ride, then 5 miles home. I left the house at 6:20 and got home at 8:45. If you care about the route I took you can see my best guess here. 19.6 miles. Crazy. I wonder if I’ll be able to walk later?

Your bike words motivated me to get my bike back into use, so thanks!

To clarify - the times that you are writing about at AM?

Yeah, they are AM. Those crazy guys ride about 10 miles every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 7, leaving from Ross’ house in Carytown.

I lived in Amsterdam for 2 1/2 years. No car — only a big heavy black Dutch bike with with no gears. It was wonderful — my bike was always anxious to take me to new and wonderful places — and it is still there in the safe keeping of a friend awaiting my eventual return.

In The Netherlands, there is a bike path everywhere there is a highway. Back in Richmond I have a 10 speed that has only once left my apartment — I would be afraid to venture out here where bikers are certainly not respected.
