We walked over and made a visit to Asbury United Methodist Church On Church Hill this morning. It was an interesting mix between a traditional black church and a traditional United Methodist church. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. It was about 95% black, so we weren’t the only white people and they have a desire to be an interracial congregation. On the negative… it was a 2 hour service and there was a lot of yelling. I don’t really have the ability to sit still and quiet for 2 hours. And Alicia doesn’t do well with raised voices and had a hard time with that part. So, chalk one up as a worthwhile experience, but we probably won’t be visiting there again.
