The first weekend of December has come and gone. Here is how it played out for us:
Friday: Hung out with Alisha and Casey, walked over to Cafe Gutenberg for coffee, by the train station to see it’s decorations and get a cookie and down to the James Center to see all the lights that had just been turned on. We missed the grand illumination because everyone but me had to work late, but it was still great to see the lights. Then we drove over to First Friday’s Artwalk to checkout some art and get something to eat. We had a bad experience at Popkin Tavern where after waiting 45 minutes for a table to get a late dinner the manager tells us that we can’t order food because the kitchen is too backed up. After giving him crap he got us some appetizers and bought us a round of drinks and said we could put our order in a little later. By the time we actually got our dinners and ate we missed getting to see most of the art galleries. I suggest holding off on visiting Popkin Tavern until they make some staffing, and probably managerial, changes. We had a really good time with Alisha and Casey though, thanks guys!
Saturday: Alicia and I walked over to Captain Buzzy’s in the morning for coffee and muffins and enjoyed them in Libby Park on a beautiful morning. Then we ran around a lot running errands and then hit up the Willow Lawn Gold’s Gym for a afternoon workout. Saturday night we went out with Ryan and Aoife, starting with drinks at Legends Brewery and then over to Oregon Hill for dinner at Mamma Zu. Alicia hadn’t met Aoife before, but they seemed to hit it off, and we all had a good time. Mamma Zu is this amazing little Italian restaurant. It you want a good Italian experience I highly recommend it. It’s small though, so expect a wait. And, for some reason beyond my comprehension, they don’t take Visa or Mastercard, and there isn’t a sign saying that when you come in. We found it out when we went to pay. They didn’t seem to think it was a big deal, and I’ll be going back tonight with a check to pay our bill. So bring cash, check or an American Express card with you to avoid having to go back and pay your bill later. Thanks Ryan and Aoife for a fun night!
Sunday: Sunday was more chill. I went and played tackle football at 1 with the beerble crew, but that and us getting our Christmas tree was the biggest action of the day. I hurt a lot from the football, I’m not as young as I used to be. And our tree looked a lot better at the store than it does when we got it back here, but smells really nice and hopefully if we cover it with decorations no one will notice the tree itself that much.(Fast update: Apparently Alicia completely decorated the tree after I fell asleep on the couch last night and I just noticed. It looks very nice!)
This week: The biggest thing going on this week is that a contractor is coming out this morning to start replacing the leaking siding on our house!!!!! It’s taken us way to long to make this happen, but it is happening. A mason will also be here tonight to patch up the chimney’s some. Hopefully this will be the end of leaks around here and we can go ahead with fixing up the inside. It’s being paid for by a second mortgage which is in process. That will also pay for a corn burning stove, pay off my credit card, and let us do a couple more things around here.

Don’t forget my annual christmas party is saturday, dec. 16th at 7pm!
