Bio of Jarrett 7

Posted by Daniel on April 19, 2007

Below is the bio of Jarrett that I wrote for some print media outlets. Thought I would share it here. I’ll have the definite funeral arrangements posted here later today.

Jarrett Lee Lane, 22, was the pride of not just his family, but of the whole town of Narrows, VA. Raised by his mom Tracey, his grandmother Nancy and two older sisters with the help of numerous other people in this small town about half an hour’s drive past Blacksburg.

Jarrett was a one-of-a-kind person. How anyone had the time to do all the things Jarrett did is unbelievable. Studying Engineering, coaching high school sports, playing intramural sports, keeping an active social life with people both from Tech and Narrows, being active in Cru, working for parking services, doing an internship with facilities at Tech, helping his sister Fawn and her husband Roger raise their 3 young children, visiting his sister Alicia and her husband Daniel in Baltimore and Richmond. You would think that at least one of those areas would suffer, but it never did. He had an amazing ability to not take himself too seriously, but always took life and friendships seriously. He always took the time to talk to people and care for them.

Jarrett will be missed more than can be expressed in words. His friends and family cherish all of your thoughts and prayers as they try to re-adjust to life without his amazing presence in their lives.

A horrible, horrible day 21

For those who haven’t heard yet, Alicia’s brother Jarrett was among the fatalities today at Tech. Please be praying for us and the rest of Alicia’s family and the families of the other victims. We’ll be down with her family probably this whole week. I’ll update this when we are back in town and it would be okay to stop by. Thanks for your prayers.

Richmond small business owners love entrepreneurs

Posted by Daniel on April 09, 2007

There have been a few times lately that I’ve had Richmond small business owners want to help me as I get my business started. There seems to be a general love of the entrepreneur. A few people who I had interacted with before splitting off on my own now want to use me for their computers or for a project. One told me “it’s people like you who make America great.” Another offered me a way of paying that amounts to an interest free loan(don’t need it, but the thought is appreciated). It’s been an amazing show of support that I hope continues long enough for Farrell IT to get well established here. I also hope it is something that I’ll be able to do for entrepreneurs down the road. So, I just wanted to say thanks to Richmond small business owners! You rock!
