Alicia and I went to the Richmond Kickers game tonight. We beat the Cleveland City Stars 2-1 in the second round match of the US Open Cup. Why does this matter you ask? It matters because we get to host the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS in the next round! You know them, the team that recently signed David Beckham. Beckham should be with them by then as well. World class soccer in Richmond on July 10th! Be there!
I’ll be buying a bunch of tickets once they go on sale so if you want to go with the group I’m getting together for the game let me know.
In other soccer related news… if any Kickers fans are reading this I’m going to need a new friend to got to future games with… Alicia didn’t get into it.
Quick update: Tickets are on sale at the Kickers website. I got 12 of them. They are $15 each if you want to get one from me or from the website.

Friday night I biked over to Friday Cheers to hang out with some friends and then over to Baja Bean for some food and hangout with a few of them. This was a biking week for me. I had also biked to Legend Brewery earlier in the week with Ryan and biked to a meeting at PharrOut. I really like using my bike as a means of transportation and I guess it helps for Alicia to be out of town with our only trustworthy car.
Saturday Alicia and her mom were busy with stuff and so I got kidnapped and brought to Veggie Fest 2007 by our good friends Alisha and Casey. It was perfect weather for such a festival and that combined with incredible food and good friends made for a very enjoyable time. Later we met up with Alicia and her mom and had amazing vegetarian mexican lasagna(compliments of Alisha) and lots of fun.
Today involved church and lunch at Chad and Alyssa’s place with said church people followed by a restful afternoon and a walk down to CVS.

We just finished up the first week of Alicia’s leave of absence from work. I wasn’t sure how it would be for both of us to be around the house most of the time, but it’s been nice. We’ve gone for a lot of walks in the neighborhood and even walked down to the Farmer’s Market and Zuppa’s the other day. I’ve even been able to get work done.
To accommodate for our reduced income(and probably just to keep our sanity) we’ve made some decisions to simplify things in our life together. We are going to eat at home more and actually cook stuff instead of just microwaving frozen things(wraps and potatoes for dinner last night!). We are going to bike more. We’ve even been tossing around the idea of becoming a 1 car family. Should be interesting!

I got a demo of Clearwire while over at Alisha and Casey’s place yesterday. It was pretty impressive! For those who don’t know about Clearwire it is a new wireless ISP that just went live in Richmond two weeks ago. The are based on cell towers, except instead of trying to use the busy phone cell towers that are positioned for interstates they are putting up their own towers for just internet and positioning them for the areas that people live and work in. I was impressed enough with Casey’s demo that today when a client’s internet was down I went and signed up for the service and hooked them up on it until their internet is fixed. Took only a couple minutes to get configured and worked like a charm. If you are in Richmond and fed up with Comcast and/or Verizon you should definitely check out Clearwire!

It took us a little while to figure it out but C.H.A.T. bought a house on our block a month and a half ago and have made it a center of their activity. We haven’t met the interns who are living there yet, but we’ll make it a point to do that. Anyways, welcome to the block C.H.A.T.
