I’ve been working on the website for a non-profit that some my friends are starting up in Maryland called FaithWorks Project. They are doing micro-finance loans through Kiva and then using the money for local community development work around Baltimore after the loans get paid back. Good stuff. They are having their first fundraiser on Thursday and wanted the new site up by then. Well, it’s up. It still needs two pages filled in and could probably use a little tweaking of some copy(not my deal) and maybe a little thing here or there, but I’m pretty happy with the design at this point. Anyways, I’m glad to have the site mostly done… time to move on to my next web project.
Morning church adventure 1
This morning our church(The Well, new website coming soon) went over to Third Pres to hear Gary Haugen of International Justice Mission speak. He was good and the work they are doing is very important. This involved adventure because Alicia is gone this weekend with our working car, so I decided to be creative on getting there. Here’s how it played out: caught the bus at 8 and put my bike on the bike rack. At the other end of the route(Patterson and Three Chopt on Sundays) I got off and biked the 1.7 miles over to Third Pres. I ended up getting there around 8:45. Which was pretty early, but I just chilled there and read some(Signs of Emergence) until there service at 9:30. I then got a ride from David and went to lunch with people from The Well and then biked back to Patterson and Three Chopt and caught the bus back here to Church Hill. A good little successful adventure in carless travel.
If anyone is interested in checking out The Well next week would be a good time for it. We are meeting at our house in Church Hill next Sunday at 10:30 if you want to join us.
The Books of The Bible 5
The International Bible Society has released a new bible version(not translation) worth taking note of. It’s called The Books of The Bible and the changes the traditional order and formatting.
It’s intentions are to encourage people to read the books of the bible as books and to actually read the bible in general. To do this it removes the chapter and verse markings(but references the range for each page at the bottom) and goes to a single column layout(like every other book we read in our culture). It also doesn’t include any reference notes. Not a study bible, a reading bible. It also goes back to the Hebrew book ordering for the First(traditionally Old) Testament and comes up with a new book ordering for the New Testament based on groupings of like-minded books. You can see the order on the samples pages of their website. Looks interesting enough that I’ll be ordering a copy in a minute.

We’ve been married for 5 years!?!?! 9

Today is our 5th anniversary.
Sometimes I wonder “what the heck were we thinking?!?!?”, but most of the time I think “I can’t believe I tricked Alicia Lane into marrying me!!!!”
Happy anniversary baby! I love you!
