I just got back from enjoying one last lunch at Jumpin’ J’s. As of around 2pm today they are closed for good. They went through a rough attempt to transition to being a fine dining restaurant in the evenings and never recovered. It’s a shame as we’ve had some great food there in times past. Also, that was my real life connection point with the blog mafia in Richmond. I met both Ross Catrow(Haduken, Richmond Crime, RVABlogs, WOTBN and RVANews) and John Murden(CHPN, je ne sais pas and others) there. Goodbye Jumpin’ J’s… it was fun while it lasted!
Thanksgiving in Narrows
We are finishing up our Thanksgiving trip to Narrows this afternoon. We came down Thursday in time to have a 3pm meal with the family. We’ve spent some time with Alicia’s mom and grandmother and also time with Fawn, Roger and the kids at their new apartment. They moved in earlier this week and are getting settled in well. I love those kids, but it’s overwhelming when all three of them are around and awake at the same time. It gave me a new appreciation for all parents of young children. It’s also good birth control.
We will be heading out of here shortly and stopping by Roanoke to have dinner with our friends Alisha and Casey and Alisha’s dad Barry. Hopefully the traffic from the VT vs UVA(go VT! Yay!) game will be cleared out before we come through town Charlottesville.
Thirty one years of life 1
Today is my 31st birthday. Man, 31 sounds quite a bit older than 30. I hope that isn’t a trend from this point forward. Alicia threw me a nice party on Saturday which was a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone who came out for it! I don’t really have any plans for today besides work and hanging out with Alicia when she gets home from work. Is there something special you are supposed to do when you turn 31?
In other news we will be going to Narrows, VA for Thanksgiving to see Alicia’s family. This is our first holiday without Jarrett so it will be a tough one. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
Our Harrisonburg trip 1
Brent and i went on our daytrip to Harrisonburg today. We got to meet a lot of people who are a part of Virginia Mennonite Missions, the Virginia Mennonite Conference, Eastern Mennonite Seminary and a couple of church plants(The Table(Hi Gerald!) and The Early Church/Our Community Place). It was a very good time of connecting with people and getting a feel for everything. We also got to have a great lunch at The Little Grill Collective. I’m not sure if Ed reads this, but if you do, thanks Ed for making it a great visit!
We got to meet a lot of people and I’m still trying to sort out in my head who everyone was, but we enjoyed our time with each person. I’m looking forward to connecting with everyone again sometime.
