My amazing wife Alicia is now 27! Happy birthday baby!
Google Street View and beautiful people 2
As a number of people have mentioned, Google has put up their street view of Richmond. While my lovely wife was exploring it she checked out Buzzy’s and saw some beautiful people out front. Check them out:

That’s us and our good friends Ryan and Aoife standing out front talking, forever memorializing us as Church Hillites and Buzzy’s addicts.
Update: Turns out Alicia found out about us in the photo from this CHPN post
March Madness! and an NBA suggestion…
Man, I love March Madness! You forget just how much energy and excitement there is in these games! I’ve loved watching these first two days of games!
I have been realizing how little each NBA game means to the players/teams compared to these games. In my continual quest to think of ways to make the NBA better I had the idea of making 2 single elimination tournaments that all the teams would play in during the season. There could be big prizes for players and teams for winning them. Think prize money, moving up the draft order, luxury tax exemptions, trade exception, etc. How much fun would those be to watch? It wouldn’t make you the NBA champion, but I bet each would become almost as prestigious very quickly.
I hope you are enjoying this tournament as much as I am!
Wrecking my wardrobe 2
You know situation. We are getting ready to head out of town for a short trip and I am short on clean clothes. I just had to do one load of laundry. It happens in those situations that you wash all of your favorite/best clothes together. Alicia asked me to throw her jeans in with it. I didn’t check the pockets on her jeans. There was lipstick in there.
So, all of my favorite/best clothes are now stained with melted lipstick. Alicia tried something she found online that was supposed to get it out, and it helped some, but not enough. We started the process again before we left, but I’m thinking they are all ruined. You better believe I’ll be religious about checking pockets from now on.
The Age of Less has started 2
Over at Organic Jesus awhile ago(site is now dormant) Brandon Rhodes did a series talking about The Age of Less(here, here, here and here). The basic idea is that shifting forces in the global economy and us hitting peak oil will bring to an end our current age of prosperity. No more will we be able to purchase all kinds of cheap stuff. It will be an Age of Less. His focus is on christians and the church(which is a worthwhile focus), but the principle applies throughout our country. Our current way of life is not sustainable.
World crude oil production has been slowly falling and unless it turns around 2005 will go down in history as the peak year. Besides oil, issues with the US dollar, the sub-prime housing crisis and the subsequent slowing US economy have kicked off the age for many in the US already. Welcome to the Age of Less.
