The backyard dreams of an amazing lady 1

Posted by Daniel on May 25, 2008

So this amazing lady that I get to share my life with had insane fantasies wonderful dreams of what our backyard should look like. She made them happen this weekend. Below are pictures of what she was able to accomplish(with some help from me, but we all know it wasn’t my idea or push). We just had friends over for some s’mores around the firepit and beers and it was a blast. Enjoy the pics:

Looks good doesn’t it?

Sports Highlights 2.0

Posted by Daniel on May 16, 2008

As a sports fan and a non-cable tv subscriber I’m left with fewer options for keeping up with sports. ESPN has done a good job with their site and using video but they don’t cover just what I want and I get annoyed wading through baseball stuff that I don’t care about. So, being a computer geek I’ve figured out a better setup for myself and I thought I would share it with you.

My setup starts with Miro which is a free internet tv/video player. It lets you subscribe to video rss feeds and it will download the videos as they come out. The sports leagues I am into(NBA, Euroleague and MLS) have YouTube channels(NBA, Euroleague and MLS) so I subscribed to the feeds for them(NBA, Euroleague and MLS) and presto, I get video highlights of just the stuff I want to see. Enjoy

And then there were 2

Our good friend(and short term roommate) Ryan left Richmond yesterday. He’s on his way to Ireland to prepare to get married and then move to Cambridge, England with his lovely future wife Aoife. It was a lot of fun having him as a roommate for a little while and we’ll miss getting to see him regularly. But for now we are back to just the 2 of us(and the 4 cats) at the house.

We’ve been pretty busy lately and I haven’t been posting a lot. I have some video of the world record 3200 pounds of nachos that were made by Banditos at the Fan Festival last weekend that I’ll post soon.

We will be watching clips from The End of Suburbia and discussing related issues afterwards. It starts at 6:30pm at GlobeHopper if you want to be a part of it. Hope to see some of you there.

Gone fishing

I went fishing yesterday up on the Rappahannock with my good friends Ryan and Nate. It was a good time of hanging out. We fished, threw around the frisbee and football, canoed, drank beer and fished some more. Fishing awards are as follows:

  • Most Fish Caught: Ryan(4)
  • Largest Fish: Me!
  • Save face: Nate for catching for his one and only fish at the end of the day

It was a great day of hanging out with friends and just enjoying nature. Good times!

The above picture is the big one. It’s also good evidence that I need to lose weight.
