She collapsed while playing cards with her girlfriends yesterday and never recovered. The word that is coming to my mind when I think about her life is committed. She was as committed to her church, her husband, her family and friends as anyone could possibly be. To realize that to equal their marriage mark Alicia and I need to be married 56 more years blows my mind! She is already missed here.

For those checking this blog on a regular basis I want to apologize for the infrequent posting. I really haven’t been able to come up with anything worthwhile to write. I’m hoping that after this week I’ll be able to return to writing more regularly again.

This week we’ll be heading down to Narrows to be with Alicia’s family. The anniversary of the shootings is Wednesday and they are dedicating a bridge to Jarrett on Thursday. If you are the praying type we would appreciate them. If not, then we also welcome positive thoughts.

I’ve been kind of crazy busy with stuff. Hang in there faithful readers, I’ll get back on track.

Alicia and I went up to DC Friday night for a going away party for our friend Aoife. She will be heading back to Ireland a week from today. I’m glad we could be there for at least a little bit of the party. We’ll miss you Aoife!

After the party we headed up to spend the rest of the weekend with my family. It was a nice visit. We got to spend a decent amount of time with my parents and Mike and Sarah. Always a good time. I made a visit to Horizon Church of Owings Mills on Sunday morning. It was good to see some people I haven’t seen in a while. Now it’s back to work and a week with a lot of stuff planned.

Hard to believe it’s only halfway done. Monday was the anniversary of my brother Jack‘s death. Hard to believe it’s been 4 years. Tuesday was of course 9/11. Plus there is the family crap that Alicia mentioned briefly. Sounds like it would be all bad.

But it’s not. There is good stuff too. Our good friends Brent and Keila are at MCV having their baby today! Tessa will enter the world sometime today, although from what I’m hearing it’s going slow. They have been updating Facebook periodically throughout the day so it’s been neat to be able to follow. On Saturday our good friends Casey and Alisha are getting married! Should be a really fun wedding. It will be at St Patrick’s Catholic Church with the reception at Plant Zero. The other good news will be announced by Alicia on her blog when she gets home, so stay tuned for that.

Quite an up and down week.

Today is our 5th anniversary. :-) Sometimes I wonder “what the heck were we thinking?!?!?”, but most of the time I think “I can’t believe I tricked Alicia Lane into marrying me!!!!”
