We are finishing up our Thanksgiving trip to Narrows this afternoon. We came down Thursday in time to have a 3pm meal with the family. We’ve spent some time with Alicia’s mom and grandmother and also time with Fawn, Roger and the kids at their new apartment. They moved in earlier this week and are getting settled in well. I love those kids, but it’s overwhelming when all three of them are around and awake at the same time. It gave me a new appreciation for all parents of young children. It’s also good birth control.

We will be heading out of here shortly and stopping by Roanoke to have dinner with our friends Alisha and Casey and Alisha’s dad Barry. Hopefully the traffic from the VT vs UVA(go VT! Yay!) game will be cleared out before we come through town Charlottesville.

Alicia and I went up to DC Friday night for a going away party for our friend Aoife. She will be heading back to Ireland a week from today. I’m glad we could be there for at least a little bit of the party. We’ll miss you Aoife!

After the party we headed up to spend the rest of the weekend with my family. It was a nice visit. We got to spend a decent amount of time with my parents and Mike and Sarah. Always a good time. I made a visit to Horizon Church of Owings Mills on Sunday morning. It was good to see some people I haven’t seen in a while. Now it’s back to work and a week with a lot of stuff planned.

We just got back to Richmond from a weekend with my family up in Maryland. We enjoyed time in the hot tub, by the pool and in the wonderful garden of a backyard that my parents have. We enjoyed the company, good food and some beers/wine/margaritas. I love my family and it is just very peaceful and relaxing up there so that makes for an enjoyable weekend away.

Mike’s girlfriend Sarah was around for most of the weekend, which was very cool. The 3 couples(my parents, Mike and Sarah and us) get along very well and we all had a good time. Looking forward to more family time like that in the future.

We also got to spend time with our good friend Scott on Saturday which is always a pleasure. I even made an appearance at Horizon Owings Mills on Sunday morning. That was a church I was a part of at it’s beginnings and which we went to when we first got married. It was good to see them doing well and to see some long lost friends.

Now we are back in Richmond gearing up for a shortened, but busy, week.

This weekend was supposed to be a huge celebration. It’s amazing what a fews minutes on a Monday morning can change. Our time here is sure to have it’s ups and downs. We’ll be celebrating Jarrett’s academic accomplishments and mourning how much we miss him. Please keep us in your prayers this weekend.

I wrote this yesterday and our server crashed when I hit Publish. Hopefully that will not happen again. I normally do a State of the Dan post on new years, but since we’ve been travelling so much I’ll hold off for later for that. 2005 was a pretty full year. Alicia graduated from college, we picked up and moved to Richmond, we bought our first house, etc, etc, etc. 2006 should be a pretty full year as well. Things that are planned: making KiteTech’s Richmond office profitable, Alicia turns 25, I turn 30, etc, etc.

We are up in Maryland again this weekend. We celebrated christmas with my family Friday night. That was very nice. Saturday we exchanged gifts with Scott, Leslie and Joy. Then we ate out with Scott and Leslie and hung out with just Leslie for a while after that before coming back to my parents and barely staying awake(alright, I was dozing off) till 12. Yesterday we made an appearance at Horizon and then hung out with my family, fixed the server and ate dinner with Joy, Jon and Nick. Today we go back home to Richmond. Hopefully we won’t be travelling much for a while.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Today we are off to Herdon, VA to celebrate with my extended family. Then tomorrow Alicia’s mom and grandmother will be coming into town for the weekend. It’s the first time they are getting to see the house. We’re excited to have them!

In other news, we are filling out the house. We got a dining room table yesterday. The washer and dryer are getting delivered on Friday. I’m gonna take a bunch of pictures of the house with our stuff in it this morning and get them online to show the family today.

Update: We had a very nice time with my family up in Herdon yesterday. Ate lots of good food! Alicia’s mom and grandmother just got into town for the weekend. Should be a nice visit.
